Let us Adore

Inspired by James Swearingen arrangement of "O Come All Ye Faithful", I set out to create my own Christmas arrangement. "Let us Adore" addresses the original meaning of Christmas, which was that Jesus Christ came down to Earth for all of us.

Glorious On High

Finally returning after a 3-month hiatus, and in a big way too. I've spent the past month adjusting to life as a college student, but when inspiration struck, I just had to put it to paper.

As my second piece for a large ensemble, there's a definite improvement from my first piece; even if it is my first time writing for an orchestra. "Glorious On High" is an orchestral epic featuring broad, sweeping motifs, reflective solos, and a majestic climax. This 3-minute piece is intended as a reflection on God's ongoing grace and mercy.

Summer Update

Sorry for the extended silence, I'm currently working a summer job and have had to put my music on hold. I will finish by the end of August and be back to releasing new music.

O Canada

A lot of history can be made in a hundred and fifty years, such is the case as we look back at the 150 years since the formation of the Dominion of Canada. There have been successes and triumphs, but also tragedies and mistakes. Canada has endured trials and tribulations in order to reach its 150th anniversary.

The goal of this arrangement was to highlight the diversity that made such a milestone possible. Throughout the arrangement, different sections of the band take on the melody at different points. In the second half of the piece, the sections are broken down even more with each instrument playing a different note in the melody line. All of this culminates in an exciting finale utilizing all sections of the band.

As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Dominion of Canada, we should remember the many diverse groups of people that call themselves Canadians that have made this milestone possible.

Upcoming Projects (July 2017)

With my "O Canada" arrangement being released tomorrow, I thought I would take the time to write my monthly update for July.

I am pleased to be releasing my arrangement of "O Canada" inspired by the 150th anniversary of the Dominion of Canada. Just in time for Canada Day, the arrangement is meant to celebrate the diversity that has made this milestone possible. This arrangement will be available on the sheetmusicplus website upon release.

Last month I released "Concluding Reflections" which was a composition I wrote for a school music assignment. The 32-bar composition was quite short, and I feel that the melody lines could have been put to better use. Therefore, I have decided to do a full concert band arrangement of the composition over the summer. I don't expect the arrangement to take too long, and intend to release it in August.

I have also been working on a side project titled "The Bur Oak". It is another original concert band composition written to commemorate my high school's tenth anniversary in September. This is something that I am looking to work on during the summer months for a release in the fall.

On a personal note, I have gotten a summer job, and will subsequently have less time to spend updating this blog over the summer. I don't even know how much internet access I will have for the next few weeks. Nevertheless, I will be working offline on my music, and will update everyone on my blog whenever I can.
